Suppose you want to know who’s researching stem cell therapy for the treatment of retinal disease in the UK?
Try Advanced Search in Scirus with that term and UK in authors affiliations. Result? 1-10 of 90 hits for stem cell therapy for the treatment of retinal disease (affiliation:”UK”)
90 journal hits to be opened and checked for affiliation organisation.
Keep on. Try Scirus with the same search term and use .ac.uk as “part of a url” to limit it to the UK and filter through “show only scientist home pages”
1-10 of 21 hits for stem cell therapy for the treatment of retinal disease (url:”.ac.uk”)
Better, but take a closer look at the quality of the hits: No.1 is an expired job advert. No.2 is good. No. 3 good. No. 4 the same researcher. No.5 good. No.6 the same researcher as No.5. No.7 good. No.8 no relevance. No.9 same researcher as No.2.
to be continued!
Ok try that term in google with site:.ac.uk set. How many results – well I tried it just now and got this:
Results 1 – 10 of about 515 from ac.uk for stem cell therapy for the treatment of retinal disease. (0.22 seconds)
